Adding a new round for SAHRR can be a challenge. Last week's prompt told us to be inspired by the animal world. So many options came to mind and were then eliminated.
I dug through my pattern books, but came away with no real inspiration. But a little web browsing finally gave me a plan. A site with free paper piecing patterns provided me with a couple of options to try out.
Half an hour was all it took to make 4 paper pieced Birds in the Air blocks for Round 3. These will finish at just 4", and I'll have to keep that size in mind for the next round.
Instead of making entire rounds or just doing 1 or 2 sides, I decided this week only corners will be added to my SAHRR. The link to the site I used is here.

Love your Birds in the Air blocks, Sara! That rainbow print is perfect for your project. I made Birds in the Air, too - but not paper-pieced. I didn't think to look for a paper-piecing source, but now I will - thanks for the link!
ReplyDeletePretty fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI did just a cornerstone, too, but in reverse, to go with last week's prompt. I like that you are looking ahead! (I've noticed a lot of people saying that they are making one week's prompt, with an eye on the next week -- we are in good company.)
ReplyDeleteVery fun blocks. That multicolor print really makes those corner blocks sparkle.
ReplyDeleteA very pretty corner choice for your SAHRR!
ReplyDeleteFour cute blocks for those corners! Fun idea!
ReplyDeleteI really considered using Birds in the Air, too. Your blocks look wonderful and I think it's smart to set them up to be the cornerstones!
ReplyDeleteThese are great, and I absolutely love your fabric!
