The binding on this finish was done a few days ago, but I saved it for a sunny day in order to get a decent photo. Thursday was photo day.
Mother Nature has been a bit psycho this week - snow early in the week with negative temps for low. Now it's sunny and will be near 80 today. Will it really be nearly 90 tomorrow?
Triple Triangle was a fun Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. The blocks are triangles made with strings, framed in a variety of black and white prints. That blue sashing came from the stash, and so did the black and white outer border. But I couldn't resist buying this colorful backing for it when I saw it.
This isn't a huge quilt - 54 x 65. But it's a good size for a kid to snuggle into. And it's another UFO to check off that list.
As for things NOT finished - or even started yet . . . this little kit showed up in the mail this week. It's the April mini quilt in that Year of Spools series. This might just be the cutest one of the bunch so far. I'm hoping to work on it over the weekend.
With so many projects always going on at once around here, I should NOT admit that I added 3 new patterns to the mix this week. One of them was a free download, one was a not-free download, and the last one will come in the mail in a couple of day. What fun would it be if there were not any FUTURE PROJECTS waiting in the wings?
Check out more Finishes (or Not) today . . .
Our weather has been crazy too! My husband was in a parka on Monday and shorts yesterday. I love your quilt. It will be perfect for a child. Congrats on getting another finish.
ReplyDeleteA very fun finish! That backing is just perfect. What is it with Mother Nature this year? We were over 90 F yesterday after having snow flurries on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm chuckling as I read your post because one of the podcasts I listen to talked about hoarders (In a good way, of course!). The speaker mentioned that of course, there are fabric hoarders. We all know that, but she confessed that she is a pattern hoarder! LOL So.....I'm wondering?!!!
ReplyDeleteIt would not be fun at all with no future projects waiting in the wings!!! Nice finish…I’ll bet it was fun making those string triangles:-)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the finish!!! The new kit is very cute! Good for you and your future projects in the sidelines! lol
ReplyDeleteWe have to get new patterns to keep us pushing forward! That is the perfect backing fabric. Going to 108 here today, staying inside day-sewing and maybe some pool time too.
ReplyDelete80 in South Dakota in March? Wow! It will be warm here but not that warm. Those triangles are absolutely terrific.
ReplyDeleteIt is that warm in Colorado this week, too. I think we had spring instead of winter and now summer instead of spring! Your triangle finish is so fun, Sara! I really like the layout of the blocks and all the color. And the bunny/spool wall-hanging is darling - you should go for it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sara on this cheerful, colourful finish. Love the backing fabric. ;^)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish! I love that you used strings to make your triangles! Have fun making your mini for April!
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute spool!!
