Kitty blocks! On Saturday morning I saw the cat blocks on <a href="https://treadlestitches.blogspot.com/2024/03/bricks-and-bananas.html" target="_blank">Treadlestitches </a>blog in her RSC post. Her kitties were so cute. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I remembered that Missouri Star had a video tutorial of a similar block so I watched the tutorial and jotted down the cutting instructions. Next thing I knew there were 8 of the blocks laying on my ironing board. Honestly, these 9" finished blocks take only about 5 minutes to sew. Jenny Doan at Missouri Star used a layer cake to make hers, but mine are scraps.<br /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4wPKBceIkw3powfm3LjnUrLLl-Dd5e9BFkMrZmSsWLhzZuE3VGJZaJWvDMcFquGTEhGUFBfbZ_IBUct3N6oRquu-P0kZuEr2O8_CJhrQqy2h2fR4VcYbgbFpDhI6L0cK-F37zfBqCY_Ai1elC0SshM8u5h44IwBUi46UEvZCA0zMtdZHWc7Tgxqn6y1c/s1746/RSC24-kitties-dark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1490" data-original-width="1746" height="273" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4wPKBceIkw3powfm3LjnUrLLl-Dd5e9BFkMrZmSsWLhzZuE3VGJZaJWvDMcFquGTEhGUFBfbZ_IBUct3N6oRquu-P0kZuEr2O8_CJhrQqy2h2fR4VcYbgbFpDhI6L0cK-F37zfBqCY_Ai1elC0SshM8u5h44IwBUi46UEvZCA0zMtdZHWc7Tgxqn6y1c/s320/RSC24-kitties-dark.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My favorite is the kitty with the colorful guitars, although the puzzle piece one is cute too. I'm thinking more kitties will be born this week. LOL Obviously, I've been inspired by <a href="https://treadlestitches.blogspot.com/2024/03/bricks-and-bananas.html" target="_blank">Treadlestitches </a>to add these blocks to my RSC collection, and eventually they make a good donation quilt. I can imagine some little kiddo being thrilled to have a kitty quilt.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So, what's on my design wall for this week? I really need to work on the applique stitching for the Easter door hanger project. It has been too easy to play with other things, and not get back to that project the past couple of weeks. It can't hang on the door if it isn't finished.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Time to focus again.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Check out more Monday design wall news . . .<br /><a href="https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/">https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/</a> </div><p></p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-72735639346816460152024-03-17T05:30:00.080-05:002024-03-17T05:30:00.126-05:00Weekly report on the Big Grey Tote<p style="text-align: center;"> I've been digging deeper into that Big Grey Tote that surfaced when I moved a table in my sewing room at the end of February. Since then I've been dealing with some of the things hiding in that tote. A few things have been thrown away, some have been given away. Probably a lot of things will end up being repurposed, like this . . .</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMzdV-jXkKlQLf72_LmYaM3vogELmmE9ZFKI7SaAVEcKHNODt7TVqlsXKfiYrDidRvXpmc3_a0AHquSQaxdZOqhipF3tR8Yk1GWl_9u-ngYg_O3mByJDGIeVLoyv_lKK2XvcmqYNM0EEZUN0hANpKKcDt06PDdzuUokD-QC1RwZAVtj8W0j_S3mwNKebQ/s2016/FarmersWife-found.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMzdV-jXkKlQLf72_LmYaM3vogELmmE9ZFKI7SaAVEcKHNODt7TVqlsXKfiYrDidRvXpmc3_a0AHquSQaxdZOqhipF3tR8Yk1GWl_9u-ngYg_O3mByJDGIeVLoyv_lKK2XvcmqYNM0EEZUN0hANpKKcDt06PDdzuUokD-QC1RwZAVtj8W0j_S3mwNKebQ/s320/FarmersWife-found.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The surprising find this week was this book and the 7 random blocks I had made from the book. Last year I used the first of these Farmer's Wife books and made a huge queen sized quilt with a friend. We challenged ourselves to make 2 blocks a week until all 111 of the 6.5" blocks were done. Both of us have completed quilts that wouldn't have happened without the accountability of doing them together. My finished Farmer's Wife quilt is currently on my bed. <br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLIjNKO7jLGFr8TCI528xPFGEh8vS4IHbCMhn2epZIW5NY1bg0aF7lYBY8LIJYuBRpnNOTanwm40s8nzpZBVwwLm3M-dFkFaWDSRqtL-tm6smECsasIwXSqmNhUvFGLRPFMDAoGZZuqbNT8_MZMZkTMH7na_ecS0KYy5wEHPk5aXBR0cxz0x11MVQ9Jb0/s2016/FarmersWife30s-blks.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="2016" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLIjNKO7jLGFr8TCI528xPFGEh8vS4IHbCMhn2epZIW5NY1bg0aF7lYBY8LIJYuBRpnNOTanwm40s8nzpZBVwwLm3M-dFkFaWDSRqtL-tm6smECsasIwXSqmNhUvFGLRPFMDAoGZZuqbNT8_MZMZkTMH7na_ecS0KYy5wEHPk5aXBR0cxz0x11MVQ9Jb0/s320/FarmersWife30s-blks.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had totally forgotten that the 1930s version of the book was somewhere in my sewing room since it wasn't on a shelf with my other books. Instead it was buried in that tote - with 7 random blocks from 30s reproduction prints. If memory serves me correctly, I made these blocks when we lived in our previous house. That makes these at least 18 years old. I'm sure I didn't like them together, so that's probably why they ended up abandoned in the bottom of that tote when we moved. My plan is to make mug rugs from those orphan blocks, and the book is back on the shelf. <br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn23lZQ0BWIuNAV5pb17cDwCvM08zL2lYt1P_R2zLxTtWfzy0ZVQDj0xUPi0UXTFOxNtuzM1ITZVNIXepDdgGsXWdSef6LtAfD6_eDYwgYunmKIHIDlirEYp4JD6o4SiJRNidrQn_anX7LVDQloipI-p2qvTM6p2ecPYRl__Xv0Upblt4Id9UX2yEA-NA/s2016/hotpad-pepper1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn23lZQ0BWIuNAV5pb17cDwCvM08zL2lYt1P_R2zLxTtWfzy0ZVQDj0xUPi0UXTFOxNtuzM1ITZVNIXepDdgGsXWdSef6LtAfD6_eDYwgYunmKIHIDlirEYp4JD6o4SiJRNidrQn_anX7LVDQloipI-p2qvTM6p2ecPYRl__Xv0Upblt4Id9UX2yEA-NA/s320/hotpad-pepper1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The green pepper hot pad pieces (also buried in that tote) are seeing daylight. I actually have one of them totally done, quilted and bound. A second one has been quilted, but not bound yet. So, 2 of them will be hot pads with Insulbrite inside. I'm not sure if I'll do the Insulbrite in all of them, so some might become mug rugs with just batting inside. </div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-641832269553520532024-03-16T05:20:00.056-05:002024-03-16T05:20:00.131-05:00RSC24 Week #11<p style="text-align: center;">What's going on in the RSC world this week?<br /><a href="https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/">https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/</a><br />Binding has been happening around here, and it's great to check off 2 UFOs from the list.</p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNvD3JcKo5wzShUU5awvZGzXl8TdPq9gCr26_XUBdt44MERVYmVsTHNjTA3TVi-BilnH6YgVwNgGrKeBQ_nflR91CyKu10gvKxTP0_IGFsCfb8euV4Awh4gPwwpiDNTj-wyo6Xz1hPYQah_tp_qogUQgpYL8oMVlwHatc7mJtliuhrhSjVLETDc0WrguM/s2016/SmallHearts-done.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="2016" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNvD3JcKo5wzShUU5awvZGzXl8TdPq9gCr26_XUBdt44MERVYmVsTHNjTA3TVi-BilnH6YgVwNgGrKeBQ_nflR91CyKu10gvKxTP0_IGFsCfb8euV4Awh4gPwwpiDNTj-wyo6Xz1hPYQah_tp_qogUQgpYL8oMVlwHatc7mJtliuhrhSjVLETDc0WrguM/s320/SmallHearts-done.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Small Hearts was an RSC project over the past 2 years. Each of us chose to participate however we chose, or not at all. I replaced a couple of the blocks from the book and used duplicates of ones the same size. I think the biggest challenge here was working with such a variety of blocks sizes, and then sashing sizes. More of my 30s scraps and stash went into this. The background is scrappy. And I even did a scrappy binding, using up most of the leftover 30s print binding pieces from the drawer. This is a big quilt (approx. 82 x 86), and I had a hard time finding a good spot for a photo. The sun really washes out the colors. In reality it's bright and cheerful because of those 30s prints.<br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCsRB6QIza5vXj_08v3iT4io_ZaCdDAod9hnKNyOq8Vm7J3o8igz_dNifDoQsMFb4354CYv4D_aRUvVf680LyKHw9PoFgb6j69UcR19sJdkBT6I08JxQrP-RA-2WKHtsG4lzm4zkQkVOU6htHpKNABpE4Iy-FmldHVmDbiUVy6B-_eiEGV153uilUieRc/s2016/OhioStar-white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCsRB6QIza5vXj_08v3iT4io_ZaCdDAod9hnKNyOq8Vm7J3o8igz_dNifDoQsMFb4354CYv4D_aRUvVf680LyKHw9PoFgb6j69UcR19sJdkBT6I08JxQrP-RA-2WKHtsG4lzm4zkQkVOU6htHpKNABpE4Iy-FmldHVmDbiUVy6B-_eiEGV153uilUieRc/s320/OhioStar-white.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">One more RSC quilt is nearly ready to bind, once I get it trimmed. When I said it was my first visit, they gave me a cute little measuring tape as a welcome gift. The shop itself is beautiful inside, and the fabrics mostly had a modern vibe. Isn't it interesting to see what unique styles each quilt shop has? It's only a couple of blocks from the interstate (I-29 north/south) so if you are passing through the area I recommend visiting. There are 2 other really nice quilt shops close by as well in Sioux Falls. And several more located in the small towns along I-29 in both directions.</div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-61152163803910010672024-03-13T09:43:00.007-05:002024-03-13T12:39:30.469-05:00Home again . . .<p style="text-align: center;"> First of all . . . it's good to be home again after a 5 day college basketball "vacation" with extended family. She loves watching basketball and had fun hanging out with everyone.</div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMM-spIMYUyUbn0jrWOg1GDStnJLzt5dM6vp4wilsIiJ96dYf-RRFMbLx4TwBvV4vhwDP_sag9HPviF7AqnkZErQe39Yb0oD1bgheNiehLEBatu-Y1RzaZxmLk705r2hqhHwRj3hGd7FL6KdoAm_CotATmmvZvzUGc2QQUWZBfFAAYECFBySzpSdkXab4/s1280/summit-GoJacks.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1262" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMM-spIMYUyUbn0jrWOg1GDStnJLzt5dM6vp4wilsIiJ96dYf-RRFMbLx4TwBvV4vhwDP_sag9HPviF7AqnkZErQe39Yb0oD1bgheNiehLEBatu-Y1RzaZxmLk705r2hqhHwRj3hGd7FL6KdoAm_CotATmmvZvzUGc2QQUWZBfFAAYECFBySzpSdkXab4/s320/summit-GoJacks.JPG" width="316" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Back to the reason for being gone for 5 days - college basketball. We are big fans and have season tickets for South Dakota State University basketball. The past 5 days were the conference tournament. Both teams, men and women, were seeded #1 and managed to win their championships. The women's team overcame losing 2 starters for the season to major injuries and went undefeated in the Summit League conference. Actually the women haven't lost to a conference team since 2022. </p><p style="text-align: center;">On to the NCAA tournament now in about a week, although we'll be watching on TV and NOT traveling to where ever those games will be.</p><p style="text-align: center;">As we got home last night a bit after midnight, today will be devoted to laundry, grocery shopping, and just generally getting caught up with real life again. On a side note - I've been able to read all the blogs I follow (via my phone) while gone, but couldn't comment on any. </p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-77219946115470801652024-03-12T08:44:00.004-05:002024-03-12T08:44:51.502-05:00Game day<p style="text-align: center;"> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7ipf2EE-9rcPQDcd7OdNFMx9aPTuZ1Bqj8OEoSkbxqsZFPdnY93lPyVA4-Hxk7tWPA4vQAhDrvPcZhTVMJaYQIgRN-m72pladYF04x-495JO1pKaYgSmx9AttRXE9vFv4s1IGU8gea9TyX1Pp__QkGLKleCSR2I_MnUlxv1h1GUxiSUXURUv0-o3DQXA/s3088/IMG_9180.HEIC.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3088" data-original-width="2316" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7ipf2EE-9rcPQDcd7OdNFMx9aPTuZ1Bqj8OEoSkbxqsZFPdnY93lPyVA4-Hxk7tWPA4vQAhDrvPcZhTVMJaYQIgRN-m72pladYF04x-495JO1pKaYgSmx9AttRXE9vFv4s1IGU8gea9TyX1Pp__QkGLKleCSR2I_MnUlxv1h1GUxiSUXURUv0-o3DQXA/s320/IMG_9180.HEIC.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">It’s championship game day for both men and women teams for our Jackrabbits. She wanted a sundress but couldn't find what she had in mind. So we went shopping for a pattern and fabric. Let's just say she was a tiny size 0 then - and probably only about a size 4 now in her early 40s. I texted this photo to both of my girls and it started a whole evening of conversation among the 3 of us. I'm taking it to her this weekend - because I think her (soon to be 11) daughter might fit into it. This might be the very last garment I've ever sewn, other than aprons. In my case the SAHRR challenges each year have been serious cases of overthinking things. And that has usually led to not finishing what I started. This year I was quite determined to get out of my own way and keep it simple. It worked!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Round 6 was a prompt to do something with letters or numbers. I've seen some very creative ideas so far, but I was keeping things simple. I stayed with numbers. The bottom 2 borders each finish at 2" and have 2 Square-In-a-Square in white. The top border finishes at 4" and the prompt was "4". That red left side border is 3" and has a Friendship Star with 4 star points. And the right side border is a simple 1" finished. Lots of number references. Final size - 26" square. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My center block was a block I made for a demonstration of using an old traditional pattern in a new way. It was in danger of lying forgotten in the orphan block drawer, but found a new life here. Those Flying Geese on the right side are 3-D, called Loose Goose. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This time I had fun with the SAHRR. Not to mention the quilting on Better Together and the applique on the Easter door hanger, and lots more. </div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-7524547240638214542024-03-03T05:10:00.032-06:002024-03-03T05:10:00.123-06:00Time to tackle another UFO<p style="text-align: center;"> Instead of sewing on Friday I cut the sashing strips and got organized for a UFO that I am going to focus on for March. They held the first half of the season in the old arena, called The Barn, and then moved to the brand new arena after New Years. We're feeling a bit nostalgic. The cornerstones will be colorful and pulled from my 2.5" square bin. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcuJzyA67tGOx-i_592Khv8JRtOoIqVpFd_9OjMDfT5yjFTNUk-9qmxPOHSOeU9NIh46bPBs1NVp_4vZm-myfr4cqtd3acyhcBx7BpecLlcrQU-xjKNI_UDsOP9sktqhpDwlU01dhEgrvE1dfsDMtmzMDt0PCgmpsLbpDlmmFYFTYwzv5aMw2h4NE4qVQ/s2016/SmartHearts-quilting.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcuJzyA67tGOx-i_592Khv8JRtOoIqVpFd_9OjMDfT5yjFTNUk-9qmxPOHSOeU9NIh46bPBs1NVp_4vZm-myfr4cqtd3acyhcBx7BpecLlcrQU-xjKNI_UDsOP9sktqhpDwlU01dhEgrvE1dfsDMtmzMDt0PCgmpsLbpDlmmFYFTYwzv5aMw2h4NE4qVQ/s320/SmartHearts-quilting.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another RSC project is ready to bind - the Small Hearts quilt. I ruthlessly threw away a couple of things that just didn't seem worth keeping for any future use after picking through the bag. It felt great!! Again - yikes!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The purging needs to begin NOW because that tote is NOT going back into the sewing room. That may take me weeks, but I'm determined to make it happen. </div><p></p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-42612201376387567612024-02-26T05:04:00.046-06:002024-02-26T07:20:27.622-06:00Design Wall Monday - Feb 26<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What's on YOUR design wall this morning?<br /><a href="https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/">https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My design wall is full of things I still need to unpack from the retreat and put away or organize for finishing. Four more String Beads blocks happened. Two red ones came first. The blue ones happened because I was trying to lessen the depth in the blue/purple scrap bin. There 3 more blue and 2 purple ones partially done on my table - because those strings were handy, and overflowing. Barely a dent in that blue/purple scrap bin, but the red one is definitely not as full as it was at the beginning of February. </span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJob7_R0XMJe79hhmnKv2M1SdTI48DL040jNt4lIhukSUbhDGjFpYBFertfyTNygW38Lh6FXmrtOtPYVhM2mz-K8WieX_05XfAJePAv0SnvW8hEnbQxhuecQUuLbkwSDohKKkVVo5Bjpey1wbzhXj2kgyagV-aYLk18HExf6iBa5b3DbmRznJoefPbS-Q/s2016/RSC24-MngGlory-red.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJob7_R0XMJe79hhmnKv2M1SdTI48DL040jNt4lIhukSUbhDGjFpYBFertfyTNygW38Lh6FXmrtOtPYVhM2mz-K8WieX_05XfAJePAv0SnvW8hEnbQxhuecQUuLbkwSDohKKkVVo5Bjpey1wbzhXj2kgyagV-aYLk18HExf6iBa5b3DbmRznJoefPbS-Q/s320/RSC24-MngGlory-red.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">This is the paper pieced Bonnie Hunter block (2023) called Morning Glory. I sure do! Last Saturday I saw these 16-patch blocks while surfing various RSC posts.<br /><a href="https://zanasninis.blogspot.com/2024/02/power-outage.html">https://zanasninis.blogspot.com/2024/02/power-outage.html</a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">They really caught my eye, and because there are 5 small tins FULL of 1.5" squares that I've cut over the years from scraps - you know I just had to make some. Thanks for the inspiration Katie Z! These could become the centers of any number of different blocks - and I have no idea which will happen, but for now I'm going to enjoy adding these to my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. There is a whole bag full of various colors of these with me today at the retreat, as they make a perfect Leader/Ender while sewing. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Let's see what else is going on in the RSC world . . .<br /><a href="https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/ </a></span></div><p></p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06412341664506380343noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437293684152359629.post-19165393896553346902024-02-23T05:30:00.029-06:002024-02-23T05:30:00.238-06:00Out the door . . .<p style="text-align: center;"> Day 1 of the quilt retreat . . . and I'm ready to load my car and head out for the next 3 days of fun sewing, eating, chatting with like-minded gals.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4GaxgTSx5BFLhwJOQQ1scPgC81v7QrgNj-cQavswvI03gbX8q6BxJUgThmGuJ_XkWbPF2kULisNWDxvaLaE6E9nHU_WhrNYAQMRbucV29Kl2UqaZpoQ5zynydAN2vxBv6Ldcf8Mckhp92lYn_rcH6tBgKxCVYZscIvxi3vHYPgcDhjqYFYBPLR-6pkbk/s2016/Retreat-Feb2024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4GaxgTSx5BFLhwJOQQ1scPgC81v7QrgNj-cQavswvI03gbX8q6BxJUgThmGuJ_XkWbPF2kULisNWDxvaLaE6E9nHU_WhrNYAQMRbucV29Kl2UqaZpoQ5zynydAN2vxBv6Ldcf8Mckhp92lYn_rcH6tBgKxCVYZscIvxi3vHYPgcDhjqYFYBPLR-6pkbk/s320/Retreat-Feb2024.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Keeping the amount of "stuff" to take to a 3-day retreat is a delicate balance between taking too much stuff and not taking enough. The projects I want to work on are all in the green rolling crate, along with my tools, supplies, power strip and cords. The items I'm taking for exchanges and games are in the clear bag on the right. The 4' table is normally in my sewing room as an extension of the big desk my machine sits on. It's sturdy but easy to fold and light weight to carry.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The food and my overnight bag is another similar size pile. Sewing machine, 4' folding table, extension cord and power strip - and more projects than I'll have time to do. Then there is the food. Each of us paired up with another person to plan and bring one meal. Fat Quarters for a game, and some fun items for give away or exchange. And finally - my overnight bag with PJs and other essentials.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The clean-up of the Quilt of Valor fabric mess is done. The small scraps went back into the canvas cube, and the yardage and bigger scraps went into a much larger bin. It felt so good to get that mess up off the floor and organized again so I can find things. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCiD0hPJJ7t4IMJPFQEAIruBypfwst2M-NfQxJpZ7Q8f3Axyln2jCYqwZhNBi_zzDqrTD1YUBOwJsCAr9xm-d8SrvbeMotUo3bvaaESawrQS7PtLeUchYgmZBbk1b1ahC6-s6FFhJtk5D3arfWJxYgHLD97AmTxkpBtvE3b7PVztlIo7Kmgqvf4k47LIw/s2016/mini-BetterTogether-flimsy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="2016" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCiD0hPJJ7t4IMJPFQEAIruBypfwst2M-NfQxJpZ7Q8f3Axyln2jCYqwZhNBi_zzDqrTD1YUBOwJsCAr9xm-d8SrvbeMotUo3bvaaESawrQS7PtLeUchYgmZBbk1b1ahC6-s6FFhJtk5D3arfWJxYgHLD97AmTxkpBtvE3b7PVztlIo7Kmgqvf4k47LIw/s320/mini-BetterTogether-flimsy.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">I've worked on the quilting of Better Together, and am really hoping to finish the quilting and add binding later today. There are free motion hearts in various sizes going in between the heart border and the birds. But we'll see what I actually get accomplished. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9cKQ5rczmRTT5sAOGEJE8fCfJ_Ag3HI3UphvlfjfcnwjlHbNC6ZNnomopu8zjcpdI16wn6sUr33LBIC1TPiub0PIWRYRe04JPHr9rpVyaCepm7XhwNd8lTqai-PUkPRi_tSE7mcFVAPxMv7Je7T60mEBlUD2wtuqTorVEGr9U9As2LXVdBoxsil0P8M8/s2016/RBD24-block6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9cKQ5rczmRTT5sAOGEJE8fCfJ_Ag3HI3UphvlfjfcnwjlHbNC6ZNnomopu8zjcpdI16wn6sUr33LBIC1TPiub0PIWRYRe04JPHr9rpVyaCepm7XhwNd8lTqai-PUkPRi_tSE7mcFVAPxMv7Je7T60mEBlUD2wtuqTorVEGr9U9As2LXVdBoxsil0P8M8/s320/RBD24-block6.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Block #6 of the Riley Blake Design challenge was posted on Tuesday.
