RSC23 - Week #22 a new color

I think we did blue in January for RSC, but I have a LOT of blue so I don't mind revisiting it.

Lots and lots of patriotic Quilts of Valor blocks happened over Memorial Day weekend, including a start for a Rail Fence set of blocks.  The first batch totaled 25 - all out of leftovers from previous quilts.  This week I was able to make 19 more with various strips and scraps hanging out in the QOV scrap drawer.  There are 12 more cut out too.  I'll just continue with these because it will take a lot of 6.5" blocks to make a quilt - possibly 120.

There weren't quite enough Pyramid blocks to finish the quilt top I've been working on for RSC in 2022 and 2023, so I made another using a leftover layer cake square found in the blue drawer.  It's a soft baby blue with little daisies.

There were some floral pieces in the QOV scrap drawer, and we mostly avoid using florals in Quilts of Valor.  So 2 of the 4 floral pieces became Pyramid blocks, and will be added to the Pyramid quilt collection. It's probably time to count these again.

Blue 3-D Pinwheels were added.  These are destined to become a baby/child quilt - eventually.  I have a vision, but it will probably have to wait for later in the summer.

The Split Back Star blocks - 16 of them - along with several other Quilt of Valor blocks kind of rounded out the week.  And they all have blue in them.

Check out the RSC Linky Party . . .

  4. With the price of fabric lately, using up all those scrap bits is important. Beautiful blocks, and you know I live the pyramids!

  6. A wonderful assortment! I particularly like the split star blocks, never seen this design before. Is the star pieced or appliqued on?
