RSC24 - Week #22

Out with the pink, and in with the blue!

There was time to work on just one more pink project this week - a pink lemonade table runner.  The pattern is Big Easy from Pieced Tree.  In real time this is a 15 minute project to get a flimsy ready to quilt.  It was a kit that was an impulse buy at my local quilt shop a couple weeks ago, and it will be so fun for summer.  It has joined a small stack of runners I'm having someone else quilt for me.

I dug into the blue scraps a little bit.  Entwined Star was the first blue block for the month.

And a light blue Zipper block was made.  I probably need to lay these all out and see if I have enough for a quilt, because there are a lot already made.  The Dutchman's Puzzle blocks all have aqua/teal in them, which is kind of blue, right?  This one is paired with orange.  I'm not planning to make any this month as most shades of blue probably won't contrast enough with the aqua.

There were 3 blue/white 16-patch blocks (4.5" square) waiting to become Churn Dash centers.  I've pulled a blue for each of these.  These go together quickly once the churn dash parts get cut.

A month ago I put together a kit for Shibori Blues using a layer cake, a white background, and a pattern in the Block magazine (Missouri Star).  This is the PIG I'm choosing for June since it's all blue and white.  But it will have to wait until I get the flimsy all assembled for a UFO I've been working on.  I love scrappy rainbow quilts, but sometimes it's really fun to do something totally NOT scrappy.

I'm linking up with Rainbow Scrap Challenge . . .

  1. You have nice projects in progress. Scrappy quilts are lovely but nothing beats a blue & white quilt, happy stitching!

  2. I bet if you did darker blue with a lighter/medium aqua you would get enough contrast.

  5. So much great eye candy! I love that lemonade pink and yellow table runner, and the entwined star block is fresh and lovely. I have added that to a list of potential blocks for next year’s RSC. You’re always a good source of inspiration!

  6. Your blocks and projects are all fun to see! The Entwined Star with the floral print and blue and green together is so pretty. I agree, even though I love the rainbow projects, sometimes it's so enjoyable to work on one with a controlled color scheme!

  9. You've got some great plans for your blues this month. I think you can teal and blue work together, just be sure one color is light/medium and the other is dark. Enjoy playing with your blue fabrics this month.
