It would have been so easy to set this little banner aside, and put off the decisions on finishing for another day. That's how UFOs are born, right?
But, I'm determined to have this one finished this week. So - I added the brown border I was contemplating, and I really like how that border changed the banner for the better. Yay! And then I quilted it with simple serpentine vertical lines. And I have attached that yellow binding. Next step will be doing the hand stitching on the binding.
My reward for not creating another UFO? I cut out and sewed a QOV sample block. This block is Pat Sloan's free Wednesday block this week. It's part of her current sew-along Ode to National Parks. I haven't been doing the sew-along this time, but I do always check in on Wednesday to see what block she has posted. This one really caught my eye, and I think it is a possibility for future Quilt of Valor.
One more Twinkler block was also sewn. Binding for another baby quilt is now all prepped to attach. And I'm nearly done binding a Quilt of Valor. So I'm very pleased with my progress this week.
Not sure whether or not I'll get any sewing done today or tomorrow. This afternoon I'm having a procedure done on my left eye to open up a clogged oil gland. Since I'm not sure what that procedure will involve, I have no clue how my eye will feel.
I hope your eye procedure goes smoothly. You have had a productive week for sure. Always feels so good when we can move our projects to the finish line.
ReplyDeleteHope the procedure goes well and you don't have to pass on stitching for a few days. That brown border really worked with rest of the banner. That should be a quick finish. Sounds like you are going strong on finishing things up before we get to the busy holiday season.
ReplyDeleteSome projects just insist on being carried out to completion -- knocking everything else to the side!
