I always have several projects going at once, and this week is no exception to that. Today however, will probably not involve any actual time in my sewing room.
As for multiple projects going on, I've already begun to think about what I want to accomplish in June. So I've chosen which UFO is next up to work on, and which WIPs I want to move forward closer to the finish line. And of course there are more PIGS. More on those projects will be shared later this week I think.
The layout design for this year's Riley Blake Design challenge will be posted tomorrow, so these blocks will hopefully become a finished flimsy within the next week or so. I'm excited to get them all together. Sew-alongs are a great way for me to keep up the excitement of a new project, but with it coming in small increments - weekly or monthly.
Since I love free sew-alongs, and since the block-making phase of the RBD challenge is done my attention is being drawn to a new sew-along of course. Moda has been doing the Blockhead programs for 5 years now, and I've used several of the blocks from those sew-alongs to make quilts during that time. I've never actually done ALL of the blocks any year.
But I decided that with the Blockheads 6 this year I'm going scrappy, with patriotic fabrics - because that part of my stash is totally out of control again. And because then any finished quilts can become Quilts of Valor. One block is posted each week. If there is a block I really don't like then I won't make it. No pressure. The link below gives all the info on this year's Blockheads 6 program.

Enjoy the presentations. You've got some fun projects lined up. It's always fun to do the start part. You've done a great job on the finishing parts too this year. Happy stitching.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy you have a lot of blocks to work with!
ReplyDeleteI need to find a nearby QOV group, I love the program. That sunflower in your 2nd photo looks pretty. I followed the Riley Blake challenge for a few years and thought it was the most well organized SAL I've participated in. I need to get back to it. Alycia is blamed for many of my "squirrels"!
ReplyDeleteOoh Blockheads! I've followed but never done any so you're way ahead of me in having even made some of the blocks. Have fun with it! I might even try it myself if I can maybe plan to do a couple of smaller projects with sets of blocks rather than trying to wrap my head around making something that uses them all. And thanks for the link to Alycia and the "Spools" too!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun to go to a presentation of Quit of Valor Thank you..without you gals and the longarmers it would not be possible.
ReplyDeleteToo funny I was inspired by Alycia's quilt too and have been thinking about starting one also!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how we can forget what's on the non-quilt schedule for two days from now but we are busy figuring out what to do for next month's RSC and OMG.
ReplyDeleteI really like that spool block and think it will make a great QOV. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
