This has been a very busy and fun week - so far. Monday I spent most of the day getting ready to host the monthly pinochle group that evening. Tuesday morning I was at the golf course helping to check in golfers for a tournament. And today is the monthly coffee/lunch meeting of the retired group from school. Not as much sewing time as usual so far this week but plenty of time actually NOT being a hermit hiding in my sewing room.
Contessa was the jelly roll project I worked on Saturday (National Sew a Jelly Roll Day). The jelly roll and background yardage became 42 blocks on Saturday that finish at 10". On Sunday those blocks became rows. And now it's a completed 60 x 70 flimsy. Brown isn't one of my preferred colors so I'm not even sure why I bought that jelly roll. But I do love batiks and these are very pretty - for brown. I'm glad I paired it with a cream background because it needed to be lightened up. I definitely like it.
There has been some progress on a couple other WIPs. Candy Lane is starting to take shape. Each pinwheel block has been sewn onto a big rectangle. Now these units will become 2 columns alternating which end the pinwheel lands.
You may only like your Contessa in browns, but I gotta say I LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteThe combination of browns is very nice! Yes, we go from a blank calendar for a couple of days to this/that/the other all at once.
ReplyDeleteContessa came together very quickly. I'm not a big fan of brown either, but it turned out really cute. You picked a great pattern to showcase those pretty Christmas fabrics. It's so easy to become a hermit. The guild donation sew day was Monday and I was tempted to just stay home and hide in my own sewing room As usual it was nice to get out and actually talk to other people.
ReplyDeleteThe colors for contessa are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have similar tastes--I printed off Contessa pattern and was surprised to find several 'lost' jelly rolls to use for it!!! The string blocks are in a bin waiting for me to resurrect them--mine are in R/W/B colors!
