Ups & Downs

I am feeling like there are more downs than ups this week - but I had some wonderful mail yesterday afternoon that brightened an otherwise frustrating day.  So, a BIG shout out to my friend Connie at https://farsideoffifty.blogspot.com/ for the wonderful mail surprise.

Connie is so creative and a very generous soul as well.  She makes the most gorgeous cards, crochets all kinds of lovely things, and with her husband they make Christmas ornaments every year.  He carved this one and she painted it.  This year's ornament is a quilt block.  I absolutely LOVE it!!  And it arrived with a pretty hand made card, a sweet note, and a kitchen scrubby crocheted by Connie.  Thank you Connie so much for your generous gift!

The rest of my day didn't go as well.  I saw an orthopedic doctor early in the morning.  They did more X-rays, and then he came in and offered to give me an injection in the knee because he's convinced it's just arthritis.  Told me to "ditch that brace" as it needs to get more bending.  Also wrote up an order to start PT, which I'm OK with.  However I said no to the shot because I felt it still doesn't explain why that knee completely buckles.  So he finally agreed to get an MRI scheduled.  No call for scheduling happened but I'm trying to be optimistic that they'll call today.  And of course without that brace, my knee buckled again in the afternoon.  Luckily when I fell, it was into the chair I was trying to get out of.  I'm beyond frustrated right now.

  1. I'm so sorry. I hope you can get an MRI soon and that you and your doctor can get some answers. At this point, I think you need to trust - you.
What a lovely ornament! Connie is so special. It sounds like your package arrived at a perfect time!

  2. Oh sweetie I am so sorry, if they don't call you this morning you should call them to set up that appt. We're here for you anytime you want to vent;) we've all been there at some point. Remember how I had that pinched nerve last year at this exact time and I was fit to be tied, I get it!!

  3. I would keep wearing the brace, if you fall you could really injure yourself. Doctor's don't always get a diagnosis right, hopefully the MRI will provide more information and you both can go from there. The Christmas ornament is really cute!

  4. What a lovely gift! That somewhat compenstates for your frustration. I'm sorry you're not getting a straight diagnosis and have to schedule further tests.

  5. I hate it when doctor's do not seem to know what is going on and do not listen to what you are saying. I've incurred the same type of problems over the years and they seem to think a shot will cure all.

  6. I’m glad you stood your ground on the MRI. I’m sure the shot would not have helped a bit with the buckling. Hopefully, you’ll get some answers soon.

  7. Oh Sara, So glad that the small gift arrived safely, you are very welcome! So sorry you are still dealing with the knee...perhaps the brace is best left on so you don't injure yourself more, at least until you get the results from the MRI. Sometimes Doctors have zero understanding. Hang in there!
