It's hard to believe we're 5 weeks into the new year already. And it's time to retire the blue scrap bin even though it sure doesn't seem any emptier than it was 5 weeks ago. But like most everyone else, I'm excited to play with a new color.
The main blue project this week has been this one - Jackrabbit Stars. It is a little more than halfway to the flimsy stage. Showering Stars is the pattern and it's assembled in vertical rows that are 90" long.
Lots of blue blocks happened this month - Honey Bees, Give It a Whirl, Hollow 9, Reversed Buckeye, Scrappy Stars, Snail Trail, and Vintage Spools. Some light blue string blocks, a couple of random blocks, and a couple of blue UFOs kept me busy too.
Lots of Quilt of Valor sewing happened in January too. These blocks will all be on-going. Most months involve QOV sewing for me.
One final dig into the blue scraps, and I ended up with 4 more blue string blocks. Paired up with some lime green blocks already made, this will become a future doll quilt. It's 18" square as is, so I will see what I have in either green or blue for a little border. I have blue binding for it that is in the leftover binding drawer.
Let's go see what everyone else is playing with this week . . . and find out what color comes to play in February.

You definitely made the most of your blue scraps this month. The blue with the lime green is really bright and fun. Definitely a doll quilt with a more modern vibe.
Excellent work on using up the blue scraps! I really like the lime green and blue string blocks!
January has been a successful blue month for you. Now you will be thinking spring while using green for February.
So many pretty blue blocks and projects happening here. I especially like the blue and lime string blocks, I think these colours play together delightfully.
you've been busy with fun blues
I think you hit it out of the park with your blue sewing in January, Sara. The Jackrabbit Stars quilt will be gorgeous - and massive! I loves me a good string quilt, and the dark blue and chartreuse green together are so refreshing!! What a fun post!
Gorgeous blue blocks! I especially love the blue string blocks with the lime green.
Nice blues. Your Jackrabbit project is looking awesome!
My goodness, that's quite a block collection for January. You've hardly stopped stitching all month, it seems.
You did get a lot of blue blocks sewn up this month! I love the Jackrabbit Stars project, too. I think your blue and green strings top is taking you right into February!
Beautiful blues! I love the blue string blocks paired with the bright green!
