SAHRR - Week #1

The first week of the Stay At Home Round Robin, we were challenged to use Hourglass blocks with our center block. Check out the Linky Party on Songbird Designs to see how others interpreted this first prompt in their own way.

I had a whole small bin full of orphan Hourglass blocks made with trimmings from Flying Geese blocks a couple of years ago. All it required was squaring them up.  Spoiler alert - I barely made a dent in those Hourglass units, so there are still plenty more for some future project where they will be perfect.

So . . . Round #1 is done!!  I added a narrow purple border onto the center before adding the Hourglass units. That brought the center to 18" (finished size).  I trimmed the Hourglass units to 2.5", and added 9 on each side.  It's very bright and cheery!

I agree. It is very bright and cheerful but it is just what we need to help fight the winter blues. Great job! ;^)

A perfect addition to that center block. Even better you used up some of your leftovers. You've got a good start on a very fun quilt.

Isn't it great to have the units already made? And they complement the flying geese so well.

Another Orphan Box User! Hooray, there are a few of us in this version of SAHRR -- and I love that we had hourglass blocks ready to go. Your colorful blocks really augment the flying geese in the center, and I love how you arranged them with the cornerstones. This is a great start, Sara, and I look forward to how it evolves!
