Last weekend I caught up with my Saturday Sampler blocks by finishing the second applique block and making the big block too. So far the mix of 12" and 24" blocks looks like this. I've been doing a scrappy pale batik background in a variety of very light colors like grey or green.
There will be a few more applique blocks before we finish. And I'm guessing that they will not be quite a simple as these were. But that's OK, because I enjoy having my skills challenged. The center of the big block is a great design and I'm thinking that I'll want to use this pattern again.

Nice job on the appliqué blocks. All of the blocks look great together.
