RSC25 - Week #19

Only 3 of these 5" string triangle blocks have been made this week.  I need to organize the green scrap bin a lot more before making more of these as I like to use the smaller scraps.

I also made 3 of the Hollow 9-Patch blocks.  I haven't counted yet, but I'm sure there are slightly more than 20 of them so far.

One fun sew-along I participate in each year is the Riley Blake Design (RBD) challenge.  The blocks are usually 10" square, and there are 16 different ones so you end up with a sampler.  One year I did my blocks in blue and white.  In 2024 I used 30s reproduction fabrics and also added extra blocks from previous RBD years to make it bigger.  This year I decided it was time to dig into the Tula Pink fabrics I've been hoarding for a few years.  This week's block is really easy and fast to make - and I chose GREEN. My brain is now telling me this would be a great RSC block in the future because it is easy and quite striking.  I may try to do the math to use 5" squares instead of 6" squares, because I have a LOT of the 5" ones.

I have to show off the other scrappy project that I finished this week, even though it isn't green.  This is a 3-dimensional Moravian Star.  There are 12 stars with 5 points each - all hand stitched.  This is English paper piecing basically, but the cardboard is left in to provide structure for the star.  The sides of each diamond shape is 1.5".  I glued an iridescent bead into the center of each of the individual stars.

Lovely green prints here today. The RBD block is a good one for RSC next year. (Go for it!) The Moravian Star is awesome. I'm always in awe whenever I see one of these. Congrats on getting yours done. ;^)

You've done well with all those green scraps. But if you are like me, none of my scrappy projects seem to make a dent!

the Moravian Star is so pretty - what will you be using it for?

The Whirl block is a neat one! I agree, it would be a good RSC block. And, wow! on the 3-D star. It's beautiful!

Love the Riley Blake block! So pretty! If you do the math so the pattern uses 5 inch squares, will you post the dimensions? Charm squares for the win! :-)
