I thought I finally had a week with fewer things going on, so I anticipated a lot of time spent in my sewing room having fun. Then on Wednesday instead of sewing I spent the day wrapped in a quilt in my recliner - napping. Was it the flu shot or the Covid shot that knocked me down? Maybe I'll stop getting them both the same day. And I spent most of Thursday on a little road trip with my sister-in-law. I drove her to a doctor appointment, but we also relaxed over a leisurely lunch, and had lots of conversation both going and coming home.
But in spite of all the napping and the road trip, some black 2.5" squares became Hollow-9 blocks. Earlier in the year I had used most of the Hollow-9 blocks made this year in a lap quilt for donation. A few more became placemats. But it's a great block for using up scraps, so I'll continue making them and will eventually have enough for future projects.
The Ticker Tape blocks in all the RSC colors have been accumulating all year. Most of the colors have 8 blocks made. So far I have only 4 black ones.
One lonely Gameboard block was made. I've discovered that I don't have as many of these blocks made as I initially thought. So these will no doubt continue into 2027.
The Tulip Swirl blocks came together quickly too. Again - these use 2.5" squares and I have 2 shoebox size bins filled with the squares, so it's just a matter of choosing some.
Last but not least, the Buckeye Butterfly blocks will be the next RSC flimsy. These all have black squares in the corners. After laying the blocks out on the floor and rearranging them a few times to balance the colors - I've pinned these into rows. So maybe this will be a flimsy by next Saturday. Or at least by the end of the month.
Let's go check out more Rainbow fun . . .

You have so many fun RSC projects in the works. The Buckeye Butterfly blocks are going to make a very fun quilt, I like the diagonal lines those corners create. Happy stitching this weekend. Sorry you spent one day recovering from the vaccinations. I'm going to schedule our shots for next week. Fingers crossed we don't have a bad reaction.
I do love all your blocks, Sara. Black prints always look so striking. You have a wonderful collection going.
I like all of the blocks! Black is one of my favorite colors, and it plays well with everything. I had my flu shot, but my doctor advised waiting at least a week before getting the Covid shot. He said they had seen more reactions in people who got them both the same day.
I love your blocks with all the different brights on black backgrounds! The Buckeye butterfly blocks are going to make a beautiful quilt, too. Glad you are feeling better, whatever the cause!
I had a Covid shot last week no symtons luckily. Sorry to read that your double lot caused a reaction. Lots of nice black blocks here, I love the hollow nines and know uuI have some kicking about somewhere too.
I think you did good to get all those done considering you lost 2 days! I really love the Buckeye blocks.
Looks like a productive week despite unexpected napping. But we must keep the nasties away. Have a great week!
Love, love, LOVE how that Buckeye Butterfly project is coming together, Sara! Great use of some Dark NEUTRAL scraps this week, too. Glad you felt well enough to take your SIL to the doctor after your Flu/Covid reaction the day before! For me, it's usually the Flu shot that does me in. Thanks for the reminder that it's time for those!
I am loving all the black and white action here. I have to remind Paul to schedule our shots. We get them on a Friday so that we have the weekend to recover. Ooh the Buckeye Butterflies are shaping up nicely!
It's a joy to read your blog, there's always so much great stuff going on. I am particularly drawn to the Ticker Tape blocks. Glad you're recovering from your shots. Stay well!
You made some progress despite being sick. I had the flu shot today and my husband had both vaccination at once...he just wanted to get it over...we will see how he does:(
