Ready to quilt

Today I managed to finish a couple of things.  First I added my paper pieced row to the last Row Robin quilt from our guild.  Can't wait to see all of the finished quilts in 2 weeks.  Then I went to brunch with some girl friends before coming home  sew again.  And my afternoon project was adding the pieced border and the final wide border to A Year to Crow About.  Not the best photos on my deck in the shade with the wind blowing. But it's a flimsy now and ready to quilt. Yay!!

A Year to Crow About progress

My husband was playing in a golf tournament all weekend so I had lots of alone time to sew.

On Sunday I finished the last 2 blocks for this quilt - A Year to Crow About.  The November and December blocks were the only ones I hadn't gotten to yet.

I also cut out the sashing and border pieces for this project and got the top 2 rows done.  It's always so satisfying when you get to this stage and that top begins to take shape.

However - back to my crazy work schedule again this week so it might be slow going to finish the rest of this.

Two more blocks to go

The October block is done for A Year to Crow About.  Now I have 2 left to make. These little leaves have stems made of dark brown ribbon, which is a little different than the pattern. But I like the result.  And just maybe I'll get in some sewing this week and finish the other blocks.

Another "Crow" block

With 2 hours of uninterrupted sewing last night I managed to get another block done in my Year to Crow About quilt. We get 2 blocks each month and I had 4 blocks to make, including the 2 we got this last week.

I love these little stars blocks in this one. And every block has the little checkerboard somewhere in it.  And of course each block has a section of the crow panel framed in dark brown.

A Year to Crow About

On Sunday I finished putting together another block for this BOM project - A Year to Crow About. I have 2 more of these to do and then I'll be caught up. We get 2 blocks each month and I missed the March session.

These are very warm colors that make me think of harvest - lots of golds, greens, browns along with soft reds and blues.

Needed a fabric fix!

After a couple of busy weeks enjoying my grandkids, and spending time helping out my daughters a little - today has been a selfish day. I love my family but needed a fabric fix!

So, I spent a good share of the day at The Pin Cushion working on this month's blocks for A Year to Crow About. One block is completely done and the other has strip sets and triangle units all stitched together and ready to finish up. I also have last month's 2 blocks to make since I missed the sew-in day. But it definitely felt good to get in a little "social" sewing.

I didn't have time to stay and sew these blocks yesterday at the Pin Cushion. But I have them done now. These are so cute with a little checkboard section and a framed crow in each one.

A Year to Crow About

I am doing a new BOM at The Pin Cushion for the next 6 months. It is called a A Year to Crow About and we had our first "sew-along" day on Saturday. We got our January and February blocks and could stay and sew them. I got my January block finished and was about half done with the second one, which I finished this afternoon. The blocks all have a rectangle cut from a panel with a different crow each month. And they all have some small checkerboard sections. Very cute asymmetrical layouts that I think I may adapt for some future projects.

It is too chilly in my sewing room today so I didn't spend much time there. BRRRRR! I finished the block and made binding for the owl quilt. Then I headed back upstairs. And we spent a couple of hours at a hockey game to watch our nieces twin boys play. Now it's time to curl up on my couch in a quilt and read a good book.
