More Disappearing Pinwheels

Yesterday at guild Mary T. showed us how to make a Disappearing Pinwheel block. I was so excited that I went home and made one. Then today I made 3 more of them.  Here is a look at how to cut the large pinwheel into 9 equal sections.

I found some fun fabrics in my stash that seemed like a perfect option to make a large pillow for a granddaughter's March birthday.  So I put together the 4 blocks and this week I'll see what size pillow forms I can find. That will determine whether I need to add a border around it first.

We call this a Churn Dash block. No idea why. Love your colours

Love it. My question when doing the 'disappearing' blocks is what dimensions to make them to get a specific block size in the end. Is ther a formula?

I agree looks very much like a Churn Dash block. However the traditional Churn Dash has a plain centre square not a pinwheel, so maybe a very clever variation.

Thanks for the lovely pinwheel block. I’m always looking for something different. Quilting is my escape. I have been married for 60 years and now caring for my husband who doesn’t know me. Sewing keeps me sane.
