The word NOT should be spelled KNOT for this finish, and it was in danger of NOT being finished.
I bought a new spool of Cotton and Steel thread in a warm brown to blend with the binding on this quilt. I've bought that brand before and had great results. But KNOT this time!!! Can you see the big KNOT circled in blue on the left side of my picture. I'm not exaggerating when I say that every few inches - yes inches - of hand stitching I would end up with a knot like this one. And that was WITH the thread conditioner (wax). It took me 3 times as long as it should have to hand stitch this binding down.

Congrats on another finish for the week. You are definitely on a roll. Sorry about the thread. Some spools just don't seem to know how to behave!
I've recently had that knot and breakage problem with some spools of hand quilting thread. I determined it must be old and brittle and tossed it. I love browns, your quilt is another fine finish!
I would be livid! Nobody wants knots that often, wonder if it's the color? Love all your recent finishes and progress!
Well that thread sure was a problem child wasn't it. I am glad you were able to finish the quilt, it is so pretty!
Sorry to hear about this frustrating experience. It's twice as insulting as the hand-sewing is suppose to be a calm and relaxing time. Your perseverance was rewarded by a gorgeous quilt that is finished! Yay! Enjoy it! ;^)
Beautiful quilt, Sara! Love the colors. Sorry about the thread knots. It's so irritating when it happens.
I'm sorry that thread didn't perform well for you! That is a great finish! I love all the variety of browns!
What a Knotty thing for that thread to do to you!!! I am glad you stuck with it though - a beautiful finish!!!
What a knot fun struggle!
It's a beautiful finish, Sara! So sorry about the knotting thread, though. That is very frustrating!
Goodness, there must have been a twisty malfunction in the manufacturing process of that spool. I would have resorted to small lengths of thread but that would be annoying too. Your quilt looks warm and inviting. Maybe later the knot/not will be a funny story, but knot now.
