Design idea

Cobblestones - love the name.  For a few years now I've been cutting bricks (3.5" x 6.5") from leftover "kid" type novelty prints I used in quilts, pillows, baby burpees, or pillowcases. I have quite a big stack but wasn't sure what to do with them . . . until today.  Cobblestones.

The bricks will be alternated with black and white 4-patches, and each column is flipped so the 4-patches are either on the top or the bottom.  So simple and the little black and white blocks will make a great leader/ender project.  If you haven't heard the term "leaders and enders", check out Bonnie Hunter's designs. She has lots of great ideas for creating whole projects using these pieces that we can run through our machine in between other seams so we don't have to waste thread by clipping and starting again with a tail.

And the best part is that everything will come from scraps and stash and this will be a great way to put another dent into that stash and the scrap bin.

I got this idea from http://wyomingbreezes.blogspot.com/2015/07/cobblestones.html.  Thanks Nancy!

What a great idea! I would just happen to have a few bits of novelty fabrics in the scrap bin too.... I love Bonnie's leaders and enders. I'm thinking of doing the tumbler challenge as I have the Go Die for small and large tumblers. Your Cobblestone quilt will be lovely!

That's going to be a darling quilt for kids!

Just to clarify: Bonnie Hunter is an amazing quilter who has great tips and quilt designs - this pattern is one of her designs, called Bricks & Stepping Stones.
