RSC24 - Week #32

A whole new color to focus on, and some progress has been made in several directions.

There are now 30 of the Churn Dash blocks with the 16-patch centers.  After laying them out square like this, I also tried setting them on point.  Both options work, so I'll be playing with these in the next week before making a decision on the layout.

One set of blocks for Shooting Star were finished in orange.

Night Vision blocks are beginning to add up nicely too.

A week ago Angela posted some new Hens & Chicks blocks for her RSC Sampler, and I fell in love with the block she calls Facets.  I usually test new blocks using red/white/blue scraps because then the blocks can end up in a Quilt of Valor sampler.  Well . . . based on the 2 I've made so far, I think Facets will look fabulous in a future Quilt of Valor!!  I also pictured these made with dark backgrounds and bright colors.

So, you know what happened.  I just HAD to make one.  Oh yes - these will be fun to make for RSC going forward.  Thanks for sharing Angela!!

A little bit of play with strings happened this week too.  These make good leaders/enders in between whatever main project I'm working on.

What else is happening in the RSC world this week?

I LOVE your facet blocks. I was also seeing this as a block that would be great as an entire quilt. Finding new patterns is the best part of sampler quilts.

You made really good progress on the RSC blocks this week. It's always fun to find a block in a quilt along that will make a great new RSC quilt on it's own. Angela always comes up with the best blocks.

Lovely blocks all over this post. Great job, Sara. I especially like the Night Vision blocks. Am I hearing my name being called? But the show stopper is Facet on dark. WOW! Oh, yes! You HAVE to make an entire quilt like this. AWEsome! Enjoy! ;^)

Your churn dashes are fun to see all laid out together! Love your orange blocks, yoo, especially the Facets with the dark background. Those would make a gorgeous quilt in a bunch of colors with that background!

Oh such fun blocks, Sara. I really like the facet block with the dark background. What a great idea to audition a block with R,W and B. Also, what size are your string blocks?

The facet block looks spectacular in halloween colors. The dark background, especially with such a bright fabric is the perfect choice.

What a great idea to use RWB for test blocks.

Those churn dash blocks look fabulous, I love them set the way you have it now. The facet blocks do look easy, flying geese and HST's right.

Oh, the Night Vision always catch my eye. So lovely. And yes, RWB Facets for a whole quilt, but that orange & black is stunning.
